Gobind 4 wickets and Alvin blast with the bat kept Sunrise perfect record

The Sunrise Softball Cricket Club (SSCC), sponsored by Kaieteur Express Restaurant and Bar, located at Liberty Ave, and 120th Street in Richmond Hill, NY kept its perfect record against Local Boys CC in the NYSCL T20 competition with profound performances from A Gobind bowling and batting, along with Alvin Barratt blast with bat.  Last Sunday at Seaview park in Brooklyn, winning the toss and batting Local Boys openers S Rahim, and A Dindiall faced stringent bowling from Krishna Khemraj, sunrise captain, and Khemraj Somuaru. Rahim and Dindiall played cautious as Khemaj and Somaru was consistent and stringent in their bowling. Not finding the breakthrough but keeping the run rate down, Khemraj finally had A Dindiall caught for 13 runs brilliantly by Wahab at mid-off with the score at 32 in 7th overs. Right after Wahab took a brilliant one handed catch to remove S Rahim for 12 runs off the bowling of Khemraj. Somaru, who bowled a superbly closed out the 8 overs of the game with the score at 32 for 2, wrapped up another super opening spell along with Khemraj. A Gobind and Harold D at first changed kept the bowling pressure on Local Boys as Harold had H Narine caught restricting the score to 43 for 3 in the 10th overs.

With the pressure on Local Boys to score big in their 2nd half of their batting, Gobind didn’t make it easier as he struck removing R Madray to start the 2nd half. Right after in his 3rd over Gobind picked up the wickets of K Persaud and Ron Persaud leaving the score at 88 for 6 in the 15 overs and Local Boys under extreme pressure. H Rajpaul looked solid as he hit few boundaries and at one time seemed to be the batsman to rescue his team batting. However, Gobind struck again in his final over removing A Juman stumps with the score at 110 for 7 in the 17 overs. Vicky Singh had C Rajpaul run out as Local Boys managed only 127 for 8 in their inning.

Sunrise bowlers were dominant as A Gobind was brilliant with 4 for 21; K Khemraj 2 for 15, and Harold D1 for 14.

As Alvin Barratt and R Singh (Vicky) Sunrise opening pair who been dominant in previous matches look to chase down Local Boys target C Rajpaul in the 4th delivery of the game removed R Singh with the score at 1 and big moment of the game for Local Boys. With Local Boys pumped up in attacking Sunrise batsmen Alvin Barratt blasted the first ball from S Rahim to deep cover for a towering six showing his intent to punish Local Boys blowers. Joined by A Gobind at number 3 Alvin continued his on onslaught on Local Boys bowlers scoring quickly as Gobind stayed with him. Local Boys bowlers couldn’t get settled against Alvin who continued his solid batting from the previous week’s unbeaten opening stand of 43 against Golden Stars.  Alvin was confident in his stroke playing through the line hitting boundaries straight back.  After a brilliant catch at the boundary line, with little acrobats by the fielder, and what looks like a six, Alvin was given out at 38 with the score at 50 in the 7th over. Alvin batting blast gave Sunrise the solid start they needed.

Harold Deokinanan joined Gobind and he blasted three boundaries to get off the mark as Sunrise batmen continued the onslaught on Local Boys bowlers. Harold scored a jiffy 21 runs as he was bowled by H Narine with the score at 93 for 3 in the 12th overs. Gobind who shared partnership of 131 runs between his teammate closed out the game for Sunrise making an unbeaten 36 runs. Sunrise reached their target swiftly making 132 for 4 in 14.1 overs. Sunrise continued to play solid cricket as a team and capped off another dominant performance keeping their perfect record at 4-0.
